PENANG is one step closer to been a liveable and international city especially for tourists. Today, Penang is witnessing the soft launch of the bike sharing system (BSS) which is in advance of a full launch. Apart from building a 39.3 KM enthusiastic bicycle lane from Straits Quay to Penang International Airport, now the city will be linked with bicycle lanes and commuters will enjoy the convenience of BSS which is been used and enjoyed in other cities and countries around the globe.

LinkBike will redefine a new way to connect and commute within George Town, Penang. Anyone can pick up a bike from any of the 25 stations, use it and return it to another station and the cycle continues, making it accessible to all LinkBike users. It is as simple as a scan on the QR Code to release the bicycle. These bikes serve as a short distance transit vehicle to reduce/replace use of motor vehicles, avoid traffic congestion and reduce environmental pollution which is a major challenge humanity is struggling with currently.
With the bike sharing system, one can also cycle to Straits Quay or Queensbay on the beautiful coastal lane. Penang is on its way to connect the last mile which is part of the Penang Transport Master-plan. In future, one can hop on and off the LRT and grab a bike to reach their destination without stress.
LinkBike BSS operated by FAST RENT BIKE (PG) is a project by Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to make Penang an international city like Melbourne, Amsterdam, Tokyo and others. MBPP is working closely with the operator to set up 25 strategic locations that will be easily accessible in George Town, Queensbay and also Straits Quay.
