Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016, 9 and 10 February 2016, at Padang Polo Penang!
Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (HAB Fiesta) returns for the 2nd time! Here’s another chance for you to float above the Padang Polo (Polo Ground) in Penang on a hot air balloon. Aside from the balloon displays, there will surely be ‘night glow’ shows, free flying balloons and cold inflation where anyone can walk into a balloon envelope that’s filled with cold air as it lies on the ground. Other side activities and entertainment will also be organised throughout the event.
Be sure to mark your calendars on 9 & 10 February 2016, held on the 2nd and 3rd day of Chinese New Year. What better way to celebrate the festivity with your family and friends where there’s loads of fun and excitement for all ages from 7am to 9.30pm, both days!



The path of Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016
‘THE PATH’ – A COLOURFUL DISPLAY OF MINI PAPER CRAFT BALLOONS. The Path of Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, was officiated on 23rd Dec 2015 by YAB Mr Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of Penang. It comprises hundreds of colourful mini paper craft balloons displayed like lanterns at the Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade), located directly opposite the Chinese Chamber of Commerce building along Lebuh Light.
A mini fiesta was organised on 13th Dec at Occupy Beach Street to hype up the main event – Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016. There were two model hot air balloons displayed at Beach Street plus a huge balloon envelope filled with cold air, known as ‘cold inflation’, for visitors to walk in and take photos. Another main highlight of the mini fiesta was the Mini Balloon Paper Craft Colouring Workshop, open for children aged 12 years and bellow.

How to get there, Padang Polo
A. Free Shuttle (Rapid Bus)
For ease of parking during the event days, shuttle bus will be provided from three different points on the island to Padang Polo. The locations and bus schedule are as follows:
I. Jetty – KOMTAR – Pandang Polo
Operating time : 7am – 10pm
Frequency: every 30 mins
II. Tesco Tanjung Tokong – Pandang Polo
Operating time : 7am – 10pm
Frequency: every 1 hour
III. Queensbay Mall – Sungai Nibong (bus stop in front of PESTA) – Padang Polo
Operating time : 7am – 10pm
Frequency: every 1 hour
* Time schedule will vary depending on traffic conditions.
B. Penang Hop on Hop off Bus (HOHO Bus)
For thos who want to take a leisure ride on HOHO, do take note that the City Route, from Stop 1 to Stop 17 will have an additional stop close to Padang Polo for convenient drop off.
TRAFFIC CONTROL
To handle the heavy traffic flow on these two event days, there will be various officials strategically placed around the routes close to Padang Polo. There will be 25 RELA, 35 MBPP and 40 PDRM personnel on duty each day for both days. For public safety, there will be a ‘Balai Polis Bergerak’ stationed at the event venue. There will also be a traffic secretariat booth placed at the venue to closely monitor and corrdinate the traffic situation throughout the event.
PUBLIC PARKING
Parking spaces at various locations within close proximity to Padang Polo will be arranged. There will also be directional signages placed along the routes close to Padang Polo for public convenience. List of parking spaces will updated here soon once confirmed.
